Check engine question

hey guys, my car just rolled over a 100,000 kms today and the check engine light turned on. I also get the maitenance required light flashing everytime i turn the car on. i just had the car tuned up about 1,000 kms ago. However i did notice that everytime i turn the car on in the morning i get a squeeling noise, not a loud squeeling, but when the car is idling i hear squeeling, but when i hit the gas the squeeling goes. Could it possibly be the timing belt. people are telling me i should get that replaced cause my car rolled of over 100,000 clicks. looking for some input, worst comes to worst i'll just take it to shop sothey can tell me whats wrong with it.

Basically, we can not help you with a CEL (check engine light) untill you find out what the code is. Autozone can check this for free.

your cars timing belt is good for 110,000 miles (which is 177,000 km), and the timing belt generally does not squeel. that is probably coming from either a loose accesory belt or an accerory is going bad (AC compressor, alternator, or power steering pump).

Get the code read, post it here, and we'll see what we can find out for ya

thank you jrfish007.

Please search next time. I have been forgiving lately about some of the threads posted on check engine light issues, but everything you asked has already been covered plenty of times before. SO I am locking this thread.
