what's wrong with my speedometer?
what's wrong with my speedometer?
Ok. For a few times already a funny thing happened with my speedo. I would be driving at 40 or 50 mph and out of nowhere the needle drops for a sec and pops back up. Anyone else have this problem? What could it possibly be? If it matters any it's an 04 VP.
couple of things, check the connectors on top of the cluster, and another, if you put on a vafc some wires might have disconnected or while your driving they are getting disconnected and connected again, also the speed sensor on your tranny but im not sure about that

probably is nothing
around 35k on my 2k1 my tach and spedometer (while I was driving) both jumped all the way to the right. I was on the freeway doing like 80 , just pulled over to the side, turned the car off(they went back to normal a split second after they did it) just to be safe and never had it happen again.

haha mine did the same too but I had taken off the needles a bunch of times. I guess maybe its the magnet on the needle getting messed up from outside interference. I think its normal.
Re: what's wrong with my speedometer?
I've had this happen to me on three separate occasions, all about a year or so apart. All three times I was traveling between 105km/h and 120km/h. Then suddenly, the needle drops 15 or 20 km/h and then flies right back to what it was. My car is all stock so I haven't toyed with anything. It's a 2001 Civic.
Anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?
