Rep Power: 0 Ricey noise around 3K rpms
I started noticing this just a couple weeks after owning my 2K1 Civic EX. Right before it hits 3K rpms it makes a noticeably higher pitch ricey kinda buzz sound all the way to about 3400 rpm then it fades away. Kinda like something in the engine bay or part of the exhaust is vibrating. I havent changed anything on the exhaust but it sounds like i have a fart pipe on because I usually shift around 3K rpms. The dealership said it sounds normal from an EX but I think it sounds like crap. Should it be making this noise? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Rep Power: 0 Just curious do you let your car warm up? I have noticed that on my civic if i do not let the motor warm up for a little bit, it to makes a noise around that rpm range.

Rep Power: 0 Actually it doesnst seem as bad when the car is cold, the longer I have been driving the sounds seems to get worse. It also is much louder while in secound than any other gear if that makes any sense.

Rep Power: 0 yea my car makes a similar noise, like a whirring or whining noise when the revs go up, im guessing around 3000 or 4000 from the noise. i read somewhere that its abnormal if your car makes this kind of noise but my friend got a new '04 SE-R Spec-V and it makes the same sound so i'm guessing it can't be TOO big of a deal...hopefully
