Exclamation my car making metal scraping grinding noises!! help

Ok, my car got broken into on v-day and the thieves messed up the ignition.
+ cars been in shop
+ just got it back

Problem:
i had the car in my garage, and when i would take it out of nuetral in into drive and then let of the gas it made a noise like metal was scraping.
also if i put it in reverse when i left of the gas the same horrid noise occured!

i drove it a couple seconds and now the noise has dissapeared as quickly as it had come. but wtf man!

Is yours a manual transmission?

I've been hearing the same type of noise.....but so far the car's driving fine..

I won't know what it is 'til I have enough money to tear it apart and have some work done on it.

YES, you should immediately ;let them know whats happening. because if you dont and you let it go, and it comes time to fix it, they will be like "well, you should have had it looked at when it was not such a severe problem' remember, car problems always start out slow and before you know it, its so bad you wonder why you forgot to tell someone....

i wouldn't be suprised if it was the A/T shitting out on you. i freaking hate the honda civic transmissions. mine went out already at just over 55,000, and honda aint doin **** for me. im looking at 2,600.00! oh, and no, thats not for a new tranny, thats for a RE-BUILT ONE! do you have extended warantee on civic? if you do, good job. Because honda A/T's are the biggest pieces of ****, reguardless of if you drive normally or not! it's a really big discrace. see, my honda is a 2002, but alot of 2001's were recalled for tranny problems. now, according to honda, since my car isnt on the recall, they cant do **** for me. which is a crock of ****, if some 2002 civics are having the same problems as the 2001 recalls, put two and two together.
