Should I do my timing belt?

Im at 117,000 km(72,700mi) on my 01 LX, I drive a lot in the city through disgusting bumper to bumper daily and although I regularly maintain my vechile, I think its a bit more high use then most 7th gens out there. Should I do my timing belt? anything else I should worry about? Spark plugs?

I did a search on timing belts and heard various opinons ranging from 101k - 160k, grr

I'd do it at 100,000 MILES or so. It's cheaper than a valve job when it does break. Timing belts can last 200,000 miles, or 20,000 miles. You just never know. After 100k, I'd do it to be on the safe side. Do the water pump at the same time. Often the pump goes bad, and actually rips up the belt. You should still be fine at 72,700 miles.

Also with installing a new water pump, I would also install a new belt tensioner. The tensioner has already been through alot and you dont want it failing after installing a new belt.

mess up the belt and you mess up your engine. DOnt learn the hardway. My friend blew his motor because his belt broke. His car was a 00civic.

My 01 LX is at 109,000+ miles and I am going to replace the timing belt at the recommended 110,000 miles , unless I trade the car in the next week or so!

if you gonna trade it in, change ur timing belt since dealers always has big mark down on trade-in, which will depreciate the value a bit more than you expect.

drive belts, hoses (if rupture), valve cover gasket (i think you have to replace it...), all front engine seals (cam, crank...).

~600 in USD at a local shop (not dealer).

well thats just my estimate, prolly not accurate since thats the calc from the timing jobs ive done. you prolly lookin atleast $600 US.

this is how i calculated:
once did an estimate on 96 accord, the hr will spend is ~4-5hrs(cant remember)
they make ~$75/hr thats abour 350 for labor and about 250 for parts.
