Daytime Running Lights...
Daytime Running Lights...
I have daytime running lights, and and I hate it, cause I have to buy new lights like every 3 months... It was factory installed... I was wondering if anyone knew how to take them out... or what fuse I pull... something... how do I get rid or them without going to a shop... that's all... Thanks.
I've had DRL on my car for years and they're still on the original bulbs. Perhaps you are buying poor quality bulbs? You can unplug the DRL module under the dash if it really bugs you that much but I'm sure you'll trigger an error code and the DRL diagnostic light on the dash will light up constantly.
Silver Stars burn out quite fast.. or atleast that is what I've been reading..
I am running Nokya Artic White.. and they are still going strong after 6months and I have Daytime Running Lights..

You have to remove the DRL fuse from the underdash fuse box. My car (like all Canadian cars) came with DRLs, but I have disabled mine. Can't remember exactly which fuse it was that I removed, but it was labeled as DRL.
Depending on what the laws are where you live, you may not want to do this because it is illegal. DRL is a proven safety feature designed to reduce the probability of somebody colliding with your car. If you disable it you may be ticketed, or not pass a vehicle inspection.
Yea, just removing the fuse, you will disable the whole drl system. The only reason you should, is if you have just a low beam HID system in your vehicle, because it will/could wreck the bulb, or the electronics, seeing how as you have NO high beams. Otherwise I would leave it in. My bulbs havent gone out from that yet. It runs at like 2.5% wattage anyways.
And also tacheon, im just curious as to how it will reduce a collision? I mean if its foggy, people will turn on the lights, Im just wondering why its manditory in canada and not in the United States?

IMO, DRLs make people not think about turning on their full headlights when they need to (ie. raining, snowing, foggy, etc.). I see far too many idiots driving with just their DRLs in these conditions. Instead of the DRL laws we have, we should instead have stricter laws regarding using your full headlights in certain conditions.
