engine light on fuel mixture..

i had tapped into the fuel line along time ago for my wet kit and later stopped using it so i took it out and left the fuel line kind of rigged, started to leak and the motor kept cutting out, jerking back and forth thought it might be getting fuel cut caues of the fuel line.. so i take it in to honda have it replaced, the engine code said fuel mixture was off or something like that so im assuming a/f ratio is off.. yesterday it was replaced after school today on the way home the car died 4 times!! as soon as i would slow down to stop. it is idling at around 700 rpms but then gradually goes down till about 400 and stays. then all of sudden it drops to 200 or then shuts off again.. its running sort of rough, then while im driving in 1st or 2nd gear the car jerks really bad! between about a 1000 to 2800 it does this off and on again. so i took it back and its the same type of code, i dont kno what to do anyone have an idea of whats wrong cause the honda techs suck ***!! they tried to tell me at first that i was LOW ON GAS! and that was the reason for it, and i have bypassed my throttle body heater and they said it might be that.. although i kno it isn't anyone have ideas??

from the sounds of it, looks like you are getting a fuel system lean code which basically means not enough fuel normally, but can also mean too much air. check for vacuum leaks, loose intake duct work, or any place where air may be sucked in. (ie. your modified throttle body)

The throttle body bypass affects the air idle control valve. When there's no coolant running through there, idle may be erratic.

ok but not 8 months later... i did it when it was cooler outside and i would think that would have more of an affect on it but not when its a 100 degrees outside! thought it was only supposed to keep it warm so the throttle wont stick in cold climates? be surprised that hot coolant would change my idol.. doesnt mess with the engine temp so i dont see that as an issue

It will affect warm up idle levels. In the summer, the engine warms up fast and you'll prolly never notice. Why do you think there's a sensor and plug connected to that area if it didn't matter?

Anyway, that's not your problem. Have you reset the ecu to erase all the calculated fuel curves?

no i took it to honda, they just saw what the code was. he gave me the run around but they didnt kno, i would have to give my car up for another day and i just can't right now.u think it could the fuel filter? the engine light comes on and kind of runs like crap and then it will shut off..comes on and off its like the comp cant fix the problem. so something needs to be replaced. and it eats gas, i had almost half a tank and its on empty again,im getting some shitty mpg..dont kno, cant hear the fuel pump so i dont think its that? u think a bad spark plug?? but they said it would throw a code in an idividual cylinder and say misfire.

If the a/f ratio is wrong, it either has to do with air or fuel. If you're getting enough air in, then you either have clogged injectors, faulty fuel sender, fuel pressure regulator, or even fuel pump. If it's the pump, you prolly will hear it whining all the time.

Unless I'm mistaken, the map sensor is part of the TB. So to get a new map, you need a new tb. Install is easy, but the part will cost you. Lemme verify that's the correct part.

Hmmm well I think it's separate. It's one of the sensors near the TB, but not attached to it. Should be an easy install. I can't find out whether they sell the map separate or not.

Lemme see if I can take a pic

I found it. It's just below the intake air temp that plugs to the side of the airbox/intake system. It has a blue sticker and says MAP and DENSO and some other stuff on it. Looks to be bolted to the intake mani and easily replaced.

for shaking the car, maybe motor mount, but I have absolutely no idea, so dont realy on me in the slightest. A broken motor mount caused my car to shake like hell up to 4th gear every shift, and especially in first when I would take off.
