Suspension help!

I was in a bad part of the city earlier w/ nasty pot holes and I drove fairly fast over some large ones on the passengers side. A couple of hours ago I noticed a squeeky sound similar to a kid wheezing and it was coming from the rear. I pushed the trunk down and kinda made it hop and it was reproducing the sound. I just had my struts replaced, am I going to have to replace more things?!?

Does anyone know what exactly could have gotten loose? I'm not exactly mechanically enclined and I need to wait untill I can bring it to a dealership to have it looked at. Should I drive around w/ it like that?

ummm anybody? or should this be moved to the suspension thread?!?

So I was listening to it earlier and I think the squeaking sound is coming from both the front and the rear passenger's side. Any clue on what it is? It's driving me crazy.

Just to rule out your rear brakes making squeaks, as mine do when the parking brake isn't up super tight, try that again making sure parking brake is down and try again.

^^ It's not that... I know what the noisy ABS brakes sound like and all the other brake related squeeks, but this is different.

It has nothing to do with ABS, it has to do with the parking cable fighting the shoe springs, nevermind. It could be your shocks or the mounting locations but if you're not mechanically inclined just go have it looked at.

^^ Is that expensive to replace and is that a part of the strut or is that totally different (for the front part)? Like I said I just had the struts replaced a lil less than a month ago... The car is no longer under warranty and it's so damn expensive...

How much would that cost?

shock=strut, what you just replaced. Weird that you might have blown it already, with one pothole. It sounds like a blown strut, but could be other things. Did they use OEM struts?

well, If more then one of them are busted, then I'd recomend not going OEM for replacements. Tokico Blues would be good choice. Better performance, and they will take a beating better then OEM.

They told my dad that they would replace it w/ OEM parts...

It wasn't just one pot hole, it was two huge pot holes and I had two passengers on that side of the car.

Do they offer non-OEM parts at dealerships that they stand by or are at least willing to install?

My dad's going to kill me when he finds out I just ruined the $700 that he paid for...

Tokico Blues run about $400 (For a Full set)... and you can install them your self.

Hey that just happened to me too...damn. Okay, but I have Koni shocks in my car so I don't know wtf is up? I have a metal popping noise in the rear and sometimes it'll creep up to the front of the car and start making metal popping noises in the front too.

Does ANYBODY know what is wrong?

It's just the suspension bushings which have dried out. Lube them with some silicone spray and it should be alright (at least for some time!).

Hey, what about the 03 civic rear suspension? Is it really less bouncy than the 01?

I had a rattling sound coming from the trunk of my 01 Civic and it was a mount welded right in the middle of the rear deck that holds the torsion bars for the trunk lid. the welds broke loose and it was rattling against the rear deck.

my problem was that my car was too low, so something was hitting against something else, creating a horrible noise. i raised my car 1.5" and now it's all happy. i guess i was dropped around 3"...

i had sounds coming out of my rear suspension, but it was my dust covers hitting the thread of my teins, so i had to cut those and noise was gone after that

So, I woke up bright and early and went to the stealership w/ my mom. It took them an hour or more to tell us that we should get an alignment and get the brake pads replaced... It took them 2 more hours to do an alignment and get the brakes fixed... My mom paid for the bill and while I was dropping her off at her work I told her that the car felt better. On the way home however I slowed down for a small speed bump and on the way down it made the same squeaking noise, except quietly.

From what everyone is saying and what is going on in the car, I'm guessing something is hitting something too, but I don't know what it is because the car is still stock @ stock height.

conspiracy90, I'm not sure if the rear suspension is less bouncy or the whole package is just softer because the seats are softer and have more cushioning so my butt can't really tell the difference. Well, that's for the sedan at least.

Does it happen when you turn or hit a bump or thisngs like that? Is it sort of a clunk sound? If so it might be that your spring has rotated in its perch and is hitting the perch as it expands under load. It sounds totaly ludacrious but it took me like two days to figure that out when my car started doing it. the fix is to have a really strong person twist it back into place, or to pull the strut apart and reseat the spring but that sucks.
