Wet Carpets - HELP!
2002 Si coupe.
So I just spent the weekend removing most of the door moulding.
Removed the front and rear seats, saftey belt assembly, center console.
Ripped the carpet out (cut where it's attached under the console) threw it in a commercial laundry machine - then in a commercial dryer for an hour - BONE DRY - Looked and smelled awesome after it was all re-installed......
Reinstalled EVERYTHING!
Rained over the next few days, wet carpets under the driverside mat.
WTF?
Where could the water be comming from?
If I don't tackle this problem, water will eventually corrode the metal floor, and plus it'll start to stink - mold- bacteria.
PLease Help.

so you have the all weather RUBBER mats? i have those and those things suck. the grooves in the mat arent deep enough and when it rains or snows, whenever i stop, all the water slides forward going into my real carpet. i find it best that when it gets too wet or rainy outside, then i turn on the air to blow at the floors. AC works best because it takes out the moisture (sp) in the air so it'll dry better.

Da1lyDr1ver "..so you have the all weather RUBBER mats? i have those and those things suck..."
..Word... the water source seems to be comming from the floor under the drivers side, then migrates to the surface through capilliary action, and gets sandwiched between the carpet and the rubber mat.
civic01vtec: "...are you saying that you have water coming into the vehicle ??? Did you drill the firewall to run any wires? ..."
Exactly. water _IS_ comming into the vehicle - and I can't seem to find the entry point. I never personally drilled holes in the firewall for wires to run an amp, but the previous owner had an amp installed at one time. Could that be it? Someone told me my windshield might be leaky or the drain is clogged, but I can't seem to find it.

Has this happened before you removed your carpets? When does it occur? After the rain is over? Make sure this is NOT A/C related problem.
Without inspecting your car, it's impossible to determine your problem.

Thx for the reply happy,
"Maybe you didn't reattached them correctly..."
-----Pulled them off (white plugs) - snapped them back in. As long as they snap in the holes, not much more I can do to install them? -----
Has this happened before you removed your carpets?
----- Yes , only removed the entire floor carpet to get rid of the stagnat water,...... washed and dried to make it smell like fresh laundry.----
"When does it occur? After the rain is over? "
----Exactly-----
"Make sure this is NOT A/C related problem."
---Where do I check bro?
What do I check for?----

Come over and inspect it, when we find the source, there'll be a 24 of beer waiting for you

If water is coming in to the trunk its probably the rear bumper molding. Thats what is happening to my car. water gets in through the molding and runs underneath the rear seats. pop off the bumper and put it back on. if that doesnt work put silicone were the brackets attact to the car on the inside of the trunk.
FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT! I took out all the carpet and everything. There is a little circular welding under where the brake is. Water leaks in through there if the welding isnt good enough. Stuck a little bondo on there and I'm leak free!
