I was on the freeway this morning and when i glanced down at my speedo going 72, i saw it jump down to around 60 and then shoot back up to 72. Anyone else have this problem? I have a 2002 auto...and no i didnt push on the brakes or let up on the gas when this happened.

Rep Power: 0 Yes. It happened to me a while ago. I thought I was seeing things. I was driving locally about 30MPH. Then let go the gas for about 1 second then I see the speedo drop to 20MPH in 1 second! Then as I put my foot back on slightly (almost no acceleration) the speedo jumps back to 28-30MPH. It acts like a RPM ???? The needle swings as quickly as the RPM needle. What gives???

there are times in any car if you rev it up in Neutral or Park that the speedo will jump. did it once in my 01 LX and all the time in my 96 cavalier <----
So im assuming that the speedo can fluxuate like that every once in a while. Also the speedo is only an approximation, not like it is 100% exact. so something could have slipped for a hundredth of a second and caused the signal to jump. or maybe a spike or drop in voltage suddenly made the gauge jump down. don't worry though, its common in most cars every once in a long while.
