rpms are bouncing

I have a 2002 ex coupe with 25000 miles.
Yesterday I was leaving work and when i started my car my rpms started bouncing
from 1000 to 3000 rpms. It was very consistent and wouldnt stop. It did it when i was
in neutral or the clutch petal was pressed in. The only engine mod i have is a injen cold
air intake. it runs down to the bumper its not the short ram.
Fifteen minutes later i get home and the engine light came on.
All I can think of is its the intake, and maybe theres not enough air getting in.
I dont know much about this so if anyone knows what it could be, please let me know.

Thanks

Gabe

I had the SAME problem when my 01 was was about 10,000 miles old. Mine would idle at ~2000 RPM and jump all over the place whenever the clutch was depressed or in neutral. The RPM's would rise when I shifted, and the CEL was on. Take it back to the dealer as soon as you can because that **** gets real old real fast! It was the computer on mine. Totally covered under warranty....and they washed it for me!

I have the EXACT same problem right now. My car's been sitting idle for 2 months while I was away and today this problem happens. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Try to reset the computer after warming up the car. Then start it up and let it idle without any accessories on (don't press gas, either). If it doesn't stabilize, you either have a vacuum leak, bad ecu, or a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor).
