Unhappy Help!! Car Backfiring!!!!!

Recently, I was driving in major traffic (stopping and going repeatedly) for about 30 minutes and all of the sudden my car's "engine check" light comes on and the car starts to backfire and wont go above 2500 rpm's! The last time my car did this I was in traffic also but the car was overheating, this time it was not overheating. About three days later, the "engine check" light turned off but the car still drives like ****! Whats wrong with my car!!! A friend told me it might be my o-rings. I have no idea! Someone help me!!!

You need to have your car scanned for the CEL's codes. I bet its one of your mods thats causing the problem.

Overheating? Hrmm hopefully your head gasket isnt blown, better make sure your not losing coolant. If your constantly blowing steam out of your exhaust pipe even after your engine is fully warmed up, your burning coolant somewhere. When I say warmed up, I'm talking a long enough time to blow out any condesation thats in the exhaust system. Take it on a good long drive then check.

O-rings? Which o-rings? There's a crap load of o-rings on the car. Did he mean piston rings? If one of your piston rings is gone your car will run like **** since the compression chamber wont hold pressure and you'll be burning oil. Do you see blue smoke coming out the tail pipe cosistently? If so, your burning oil. Have a compression check done, you might have a leaky cylinder.

If your blowing black smoke out the pipe all the time, something is wrong with your air/fuel ratio and most likely running to rich on fuel.

Perhaps invest in a OBD II code scanner, there about 150 bucks these days. If you use it only one time tofix your car, it pays for itself.
