Steering wheel shaking

My steering wheel shakes back and forth when i brake from driving on the freeway going 70-90ish. at low speeds it doesnt shake when i brake. at first i thought it might be low air in my tires, but i pumped them and its still a problem. is this something i should goto the dealer for or is there something i can do about it. thanks in advance.

sounds like you having a brake problem. go and have your brakes checked, because I have always heard that if you stop and your steering wheel shakes, something is wrong with the brakes.

Sounds like you have warped brake rotors. Does your brake pedal vibrate too?

Most dealers will resurface your rotors for free, if it's still under warranty.

its not always the brakes or the rotors, sometime its just the rims is not balance, but if its not that then it will be ur rotors.

He said it only shakes when he brakes, which is why I didn't think that the problem was unbalanced wheels.

If the problem was unbalanced wheels, his steering wheel would be shaking at highway speeds regardless of whether or not he was braking.

If it is happening at highway speeds and not when braking, it is most likely your tires are out of balance. Simple fix, get them balanced. It is not your brakes.

If it is pulsating under braking, most likely your rotors are warped. Have them turned out or replace them.
