shocks(struts), low control arm bushings

whats up guys havent posted in a while, i bought a blck civic 2001. I think it was in a slight accident already before i purchased it on the right front wheel side. Since then ive done a alignment/balance 2x.. The car still pulls to one side as im driving. I took it to pepboys again and now they find that it needs new shocks/struts only on the 2 front wheels, and the pulling to that side is because the low control arm bushings are gone or broke? They quoated me $380 just for labor not parts. My question is this too much for labor and if it is where should i go ? And also would it be best if i buy the parts myself online wuold it be cheaper and where?

What type of shocks/struts and bushings do you recommend bst considering i live i NYC pot hole city

if you want to stay stock, then get stock parts. if it is under warrenty, take it to honda to fix! If not, jut go to honda and ask how much stock front suspension (springs/shocks) are and front bushings. bushings will need to be pressed out and the new ones pressed in. You can probably get used shocks/springs from someone on the site and install those yourself. You can take the control arm out, buy OEM bushings and take it to a shop to have them press out the old ones and press in the new ones for like $50-100.

i bought the car in a auction there is no warranty on it. it was used . And the parts dont have to be stock.
I'd prefer something better and stronger for the car. i just want to know if the labor price is correct or not? or where can i go for the labor work/ and the parts?

Energy suspesing bushings, cost about $40 in parts. You'll need a press to get the old ones out and the new ones in.

thanks guys.
So the bushings for the front lower arm control will cost me $40 for the pair? How about shocks for the front the pair?

Also does it really cost $350 in labor for this? how much should labor cost here in NYC

price is about $40 for the front control arm bushings. The only "stock like" shocks available are the KYB Gr-2's. I would highly suggest getting all 4. Other than that you can get the Koni inserts and again, get all 4. to put in shocks and control arm bushings you are probably looking at a good 2-4 hours with a lift and good tools. So that labor sounds a little high.

Changing the shocks can be done DIY style in about 6 hours (all 4). There's no need to pay someone else to loosen and tighten bolts if you can do it yourself. Put a WTB ad in the wanted section.... people always have shocks and struts for sale.

I Highly recommend the Energy Suspenssion Bushings they make the car hadle 10x better than stock. No more "Wheel Hop". I paid $38.00 for the bushings and $25.00 to have the old ones pressed out and the new ones pressed in at a local machine shop.

^^^ Where did you buy them?

And $25 only for labour? That's a pretty low price for amount of labor involved : http://www.energysuspension.com/artpg1.html

I bought them at "SLOWE JOES" in Fayetteville, NC. Like PunkingCivic said part number for front is 16.3116 (G) for Black (R) for red. I have heard that the colored ones squeak though. 16.3118 for the rear. Best bet is to take the control arm to a local machine shop and have them do it as opposed to a big performance shop. Hope that helps.

the dealership wanted to charge me $830 without tax or alignment for two front struts and two lower compliance gs bushing h=ll no and ordered new HandR springs tokico Dspec shocks and a camber kit for $900 shipped to my door (thanx True Honda). My buddys and I are gonna do the install. I got new oem bushings and found out they use an air hammer(chisel) to get old ones out. Then you can take a socket the same size and put in vice to press the bushing in. You could also go to a machine shop and get them pressed in. So Im redoing most of my suspension for the same money they were gonna charge me to do half of it. If you and your friends can do it why pay somone else to do it
