Hey everyone, ok so i talked to someone i know that knows a bit about cars and he gave me some advice. Ok i have a 01 civic dx and what i wanted to do was make it so when i turn my car off then the headlights also turn off. So what my plans were were to find out where the wires that gave the headlights/lows its 12v constant and hook it upto the ignition instead. So i ended up taking off the steering column paneling and found the 2 wires coming off the harness from the headlight switch. To make sure it was the right 12v wires i cut the wires 1 at a time and checked if the headlights worked, ok so i cut the headlight switch and the headlights wouldnt turn on, then reconnected that wire and then they worked, same with the lows. Ok so i fuond the 2 12v wires that give power to the headllights/lows. So i took 1 of them just to test it out and hooked it up to the ignition. Then i turned on the car but the headlights wouldnt turn on, the ceiling light blinked 5 times, then paused then 2 times, then paused and repeated the same pattern. So i kinda just sat there thinking about what could be wrong, so i unhooked the wire i just hooked up to the ignition and hooked it back up to the wire it originally was hooked up to, didnt work. Ok so i thought maybe i blew a fuse, i checked all the fuses for the headlights and they were fine. Ok so the headlights werent working, but i still had the low lights that i didnt try, so i hooked them back up to the original wire just to make sure they were working, and they were. So i hook it up the ignition wire and then turn on the lights but nothing happened again, just the ceiling light started to do the same thing again, 5 blinks, pause, 2 blinks, pauge, 5 blinks...etc. So i hooked it back to its original wire and now it doesnt work, so now neither do my headlights nor my lows work, wtf can be the problem, maybe i blew the bulbs because the ignition was putting out a little more then 12v? I checked the fuses so im doubting its that, can anyone help? Thanks.
