wierd engine noise
ok the other day i got my oil changed and right when i hit the street i took off and all of the sudden there was this loud noise(like a very loud exhaust) coming from my engine. so i drove around for a while and my engine would get real loud in low rpm's in first and second gear. all other gears were fine and in high rpm's it was fine. after i drove for a while it went away. now it's been like three days and it just started back again and it's not constant i will be sitting at a stop light and rev my engine to 2,000 rpms and the noise is there and while i drive it is still there but when i get to the next light it's gone, so it does it on and off. i'm just kind of worried because it just cause it barely started and it's sad cause my engine is about ten times louder than my exhaust. well i just want to get it figured out what it is, so if any of you have the same problem or might have an idea what it is please let me know.
If indeed this sound is related to your oil change, I would suspect that oil got onto your accessory drive belts, and the sound you hear is the belt slipping against the pullies, and usually heard at lower RPMs. It should go away after some time. Give it a week or two.
