time to change tranny fluid?

Hey all,

My car has 17k miles on it and it's starting to act weird. Shifting on the auto trans is a bit rough now. The thing is, I took it to the old dealer a couple thousand miles ago and they said the fluid was fine. When I just checked it now, it looks a little dark. Is it better to change now instead of waiting til 30K?

GreenNVicious can only hope to improve
My was cool till 40k, I changed it just for the hell of it, it was starting to look like crap. Check your tranny fluid, it should come out like a real cool blue color, if its all black or brown, then change it

Cool blue? Mine was pinkish color, and it did look a bit dark. It hasn't been that long since I had the car though. Thanks for the reply.

Ronin is an unknown quantity at this point
For our cars, tranny fluid should be changed every 3 years or 60k miles (as per severe sched). At 17k miles like yours, that seems a bit early.

However, it's a bit more important for automatics to have the fluid checked more often, than manuals. Is yours auto or manual?

It's an auto, and the service is supposed to be done at 30K. I'll be taking my car to the dealer soon anyway for my other problems.

I'm just telling you what the manual says: 3 yrs/60k. You can follow whichever schedule you like.
