Exclamation Multiplex blown.. need answers

I just got done talking to my Honda technician after bringing my car in to get my shifter problem looked at, explained here , and he told me the source of the problem is due to a blown multiplexer ($140+labor) . Because of the 'heavy modifications' I made (2 amps and LED bulbs) he said it was due to either my LED bulbs overwhelming it or from the mods in general, so I don't think I could prove otherwise for my warranty, but what the hell - shouldn't fuses prevent crap like this from happening? He said I don't really need it right away but should go back to stock as much as I can and get it replaced soon. I don't know what the hell the main function of this thing is but I'm pissed needless to say and looking for answers. What is the seriousness of this? What should I do to fix this mess and can I find a multiplexer for cheap somewhere on here maybe?

from what i understand the multiplex unit is actually the under dash fusebox...it could be just a bad flasher relay or something...get under there and start prodding around...

the air is forced to the center of the flux capasitor, pushing the bashed uranium and air into the third stage, the multi function discruzometer. here the uranium and air are compressed, then shot with 1.21 gigawatts (power caps, a hundred of them) creating a flux in the space-time-continum and making time travel possable...."

there is a data sheet for a tri state multiplexer
someone on that other post said something about leds draining more voltage?
what the hell was he talking about
leds use less power but the voltage drop is always gunna be the same as the original voltage

im not sure why a multiplewer would cause that, and they probably cost about 40cents individualy but they would probably replace a full board
in other words get a second opinion
