Bolt ons and gas mileage
hey guys,
I put a tanabe SRM cat back on my 01 vic, and a K&N FIPK II also and noticed that i get around 300 miles per 12 gallons of gas. When my car was stock, i ran 360-400 miles on 11 gallons only, did anyone else notice this difference? I drive in the same weather conditions everyday, and mostly drive freeway, and i live in San Diego, right next to the sea, can anyone tell me whats going on? I shift normal (3000-3500 rpm) and push my car only sometimes =)

guys, think about what your doing. the basic bolt-ons, i/h/e, allow the engine to breathe better. Meaning, its sucking in moe air and pushing more air out easier right? more are into the combustion chamber means the ECU has to put more fuel into it as well. More fuel...and well, you get the point.

Hey Horatio, that's about what I get, too. Just last week I got 460 miles on 12 gallons. I drive pretty much the same, I shift between 3000 and 4000 RPM, sometimes more, and I just have an SRI and a custom Magnaflow.

WTF!!!!!!! I never even got that much going stock!!!! how the **** do you ppl pull off that kinda mileage? I got 400 miles/12 gallons MAX!! EVER!!!Something wrong with my car? shoudl i take it in to the dealer or something?
yeah for real ... my car sucks up gas ...
I drive with pushing down about 2-2.5 cm down on the gas ... shifting at 3k rpm ... I still only get about 320-330 mpg (before my gas light turns on) ...
mods are :
aem cai (apexi style filter), custom 2.25" catback, ground wire kit, 15" alloys ... that's it
