AEM CAI and gas mileage

Before anyone gets all worked up, yes I looked through tons of posts, but I couldn't find an answer to this question. I read all the posts about how SRI's lower gas mileage drastically... but will a CAI do the same? If not, why does the SRI do this, but not the CAI?? Also, what kind of effects do headers and Cat-Back exhausts have on gas mileage? Performance is my main concern, but I am also buying the Civic to be easy on gas thanks..

gas mileage will be decressed since your engine is getting more air than before. your ecu puts more fuel into the engine to get the correct fuel/air ratio.

To tell you the truth man, I got both, and I have not noticed any decrease in gas milage, except when I hit the gas because of the louder engine noise. And another thing, you have to calculate to get an accurate idea.

I have an AEM short ram, and it didn't change my gas mileage or at least enough to notice.
I wouldn't think a CAI would either.

thanks for ur input guys... i was worried that the ECU would suck up more gas to match the fuel/air ratio, i was just hoping that it wouldnt be noticable or that bad... some claims about the SRI just kinda scared me, not implying that u guys are lying or anything, but they seemed as bad as like, a turbo

BTW, anyone got any news about turbos coming out anytime soon for our 2k1's??

i think the decrease in mileage would come from the driver...

it all boils down to :

"Got a New Intake...let me keep on revving high so I can hear it!" high revs all the time, more gas wasted!!

Everytime someone puts in an aftermarket product, they want to test it with their butt or ear dyno! Step on the gas, flooring the pedal all the time to make yourself feel that the $180 you spent was worth the HP gained!
