2010 EX sedan dead stereo - electrical or stereo?
2010 EX sedan dead stereo - electrical or stereo?
Title mostly self-explanatory. I'm trying to figure out if my aftermarket stereo has died on me(after less than two years, annoyingly), or if an electrical issue is the likely culprit.
I'm terrible with following vehicle wiring - I can do the radio replacement just fine, but tracking electrical issues on the car itself is beyond me, and no local shops are open for me to call until Monday, and around here I'll be lucky to get it in on Wednesday, so I might as well pick the brain of the community for if its even worth bothering to have it checked or if I should skip to a new stereo. I drive a lot for work, so lacking a stereo is a decidedly less than fun prospect for me.
In any case, the important details: I have already tried replacing the stereo fuse, and the old fuse appeared fine anyway, so unless I have two bad fuses its not that. The stereo was running when I turned the car off last night, and then would not power on when I started the car today. There are no other discernible electrical issues with the car, but it has 176,000 miles on it so I simply can't rule out electrical issues on my own.
Should I save the money getting the electrical checked and just go get a new stereo, or should I adhere to my plan of getting the wiring checked?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
(stereo is a Jensen MPR2110 in case that info is needed)

Never heard of that brand, if it's some cheap Walmart/amazon/ebay unit, it could be dead.
check the power and ground wires for the unit, black is ground, red and yellow are +12v one is constant hot, one is ignition hot.
Did you install the deck? Did you use solder, crimp connectors? Did you use an adapter harness?

While you were posting that I was actually testing the ground and power wires after being reminded by a friend of mine who is far smarter than me(but lives too far away to directly assist) that "dumbas***, you have a multimeter and now how to remove the stereo, look up the ground and power and test it." (the dumb*** was stated in a friendly ribbing manner, I assure you)
So I did. I also checked the crimp connectors(can't solder to save my life, but I can crimp like a champ!) to see if any wires were loose. Everything came up good, including the large fuse in the back of the radio that I forgot was there(wouldn't I have felt like an idiot if THAT fuse had blown!). Multimeter got 12-13 volts DC when checking both power wires, no loose crimp connections, and I also noticed after connecting everything back up that a small light on the USB Flash drive I had plugged in was blinking, so its getting power, but the stereo still wouldn't power on.
So all signs point to the stereo.

Yeah some component inside must have failed. Interesting that the usb port is still showing power
