Trying to Diagnose Electrical Issue possibly related to output sensor(2015 Civic Si)
Hey Everyone,
2015 Civic Si 2.4 L K24Z7
I posted on Friday that I was having some electrical issues. (if you're interested: here's a link: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...ml#post4802398)
I wound up replacing the alternator, and then ran a voltage test. Everything looked good. No significant drop with any accessories.
Drove home: Speedometer still reading zero, still having my stereo jump from quiet to loud, and later my check emissions light turned back on.
When I did the code read it told me it was a output shaft speed censor circuit malfunction. I got my hands on the replacement part.
I also noticed that I cant get power to get it over 5k rmp. If i downshift in a way that it would send it into high rpms, the car just sort of lurches and stalls. Theres no grinding sound.
Three Questions
1. Since this is right around where turbo would kick in, could this be evidence to suggest that the main issue im having here is that the code that got thrown is the main issue?
2. Could someone tell me where this sensor lives? I checked the haynes manual and im having **** luck finding a diagram or a picture that is for a 2.4 L engine. Would really just love a point in the vicinity.
3. What other stuff would you recommend checking? Any other issues that could be potentially be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

turbo? which turbo? 2015 never came with turbo
Check engine on, car enters into limp mode so you don't destroy engine by revving too much

Sorry, V-Tech, not turbo. My dad kept calling it turbo all morning and I guess it stuck.
Are you saying that if the the check engine light turns on, that means the car has entered limp mode?

if the car is not revving past certain point and the CEL is on, then most likely it is in limp mode. The opposite. Not all codes will put in limp mode

Hey this was super helpful. Thank you very much. One more thing:
What would you suggest i check/have checked to make sure I didnt break something while it was in limp mode? It seemed like it was operating normally until i tried to push it past 5k rmp, so I didnt do anything abnormal except try to drive it as little as possible. Still, i have probably driven it 80 miles since the issue happened in order to try various repair workarounds.

Limp mode is supposed to prevent you from breaking things. Once you fix the problem everything else should be fine
