2007 Civic - Battery Light Came on Then Car Dead in 30min (Code #61)

Hello, Friends,

I have 07 Civic, I think it's been 6 months since I own the car. It was running just fine. Last week, there was a crazy rainstorm and I was driving the car the next day. Suddenly the battery light came on. I was on my way home but the car dead before I make it home within 30min. I was able to get some help from the locals and pushed the car to a secure area. One of the guys even helped me to jump-start the car. We did a few runs, but the car kept dying after several attempts. The guy looked experienced and he was suggesting it may be the alternator.

I had to get the car towed at the end. I had purchased a code reader recently and I got the following code from the reader, " 61 - Power Supply Voltage Failure Information: Low or High Voltage" It was the first time for me to use the code reader and I was hoping that I would get more information regarding the reason

I have seen a couple of DIY videos and looks like I may be able to replace the Alternator by myself however I am not sure if it is really the alternator that causes trouble. Based on the code that I got, is there another possible reason for the problem? Which steps should I follow to ensure it is not blown fuze or anything else.?
Many thanks in advance.

PS: I have a portable charger at home and after the jump-start car works a little bit and dies within less than a minute.

Get the battery fully charged so you can run the engine for a least a few mins and then you can check the voltage across the battery terminals. Need to see at least 13.5v.
