window goes down but not up
window goes down but not up
hey, not sure if this is the right area to be posting this but basically..
I have a 2009 honda civic and my back passenger side window will not go up. I had this issue before and was able to fix it by waiting and messing around with the button
now i hear absolutely nothing when pressing the window power button up whereas when this first happened, i could hear that the window wanted to go up.
all my other windows work, the only buttons that don’t work on my driving side power control is the lock/unlock car button (the one on the passenger side works) and the back right seat.
how do i go about fixing this?

Re: window goes down but not up
Well you know the motor works at least, so that narrows it down to a switch or wire.
You'll need to check the
-wiring
-drivers front master switch
-rear switch
A multimeter and repair manual help.

Re: window goes down but not up
thanks for the replies.
my first step was to take out the switch board from driver side and also from window that doesn’t work. i cleaned it out and got it to work for a bit. used the window for two days then it got stuck again. this time i took out switch board from driver side and took off the cover for the chip board and was able to put my window back up that way. still unsure what’s wrong. i am avoiding using that one window for right now. the button on the side of the window that doesn’t work, doesn’t do anything at all so when i put window up and down i am using the driver side buttons.
any suggestions? i am not really sure if it’s an electrical issue anymore because the window still works, i have to take the driver side buttons apart to put that one window back up.

Re: window goes down but not up
it is automatic window. when this problem happen to me before, i press the button up and it goes up a little then stop. i had to play with the switch pressing up and down quickly almost at the same time and was able to get the window up. that old trick doesn’t work anymore :,(

Happened to me 2 weeks ago. It's the power control unit. Watch this and let me know if it solves the problem.

Re: window goes down but not up
I have similar issue , '08 Civic EX Cpe.. drivers side window sometimes will not go up and sometimes will not go down, auto or manual...
If I slam or bang the door it usually will break loose and work, kind like an old school method to use on starters.
I'm guessing its the regulator., actually more specificly the motor ...

Yes I know you are right, but I really don't think that will actually resolve the issue, perhaps a temporary band-aid, but in 12 years and 130k miles that window has probably gone down/up 100K times. Its a PITA to remove it.

Re: window goes down but not up
The remaining %60 of the track is behind that panel, I've had good success with other Hondas lubricating that track
Re: window goes down but not up
I do have to drive it the 24th to the hospital for lab test, and will have to open the window twice to get the parking lot ticket and then pay the man when I leave.
Sounds like you've done this more than once, Question:
Do you, recommend, removing the glass when cleaning and lubricating the tracks ?

Re: window goes down but not up
Nope, just spray all in the channel and run the window up and down a few times. Then clean the window if it has any silicone on it
Re: window goes down but not up
Hello, I have 2010 civic 4dr, the passenger side window doesn't go up all the time I have to keep pressing and playing with the buttons to get it roll-up. but it goes down with no problem. it is not a switch issue as this problem occurs from both controllers (driver and passenger control). I replaced the whole motor/regulator assembly and the problem is still present. also, checked and replaced the fuse with no luck. what else could be the cause of the problem? can I replace all door wires? is it an easy task?
Re: window goes down but not up
Wires break in the front driver's side door hinge conduit over time due to all the flexing. Had mine repaired twice now to fix rear passenger windows going down but not up and vice versa.
Re: window goes down but not up
how would you repair this? is there a video or link you may share? or you have to manually inspect all wires. I can replace all the wires if it is a fairly easy task.

Re: window goes down but not up
I had the same problem. My front passenger side window would go down, but sometimes I had to keep toggling the switch to get it go back up. It didn't matter whether I used the master switch on the driver door, or the switch on the passenger door. Finally it went down one day and wouldn't go back up at all. The fuses were ok and getting power from the relay. I reasoned that because neither switch worked, it must be the motor. I made the mistake of replacing the motor and regulator, but it still didn't work. Finally, I took apart the switch on the passenger door. From the outside it looked good and wasn't sticking or anything. But when I took it apart, I discovered there are some little copper rockers in the switch with corroded contacts. I filed down the contacts, put it back together and it worked like a charm. I didn't even need to take apart the master switch. It started to work once the other switch was cleaned up. It's a very simple fix, and you don't need to take the door apart, you only have to pop off the console cover, disconnect the wiring, carefully take the switch apart, clean the contacts and put it back together. 20 minute job.
