Stalling after replacing IMA battery

2008. Let me try to give as much info as possible. Prior to replacing the IMA battery my car would hesitate and jerk when accelerating quickly. Every once in a while when on the highway and accelerating all of a sudden I couldn't accelerate any more. Pushing the pedal would then do nothing. I would have to coast off the road, turn off the car, turn it back on, and I could then go on my way. I still had power as lights, radio, etc. would still work. I just couldn't accelerate. My mechanic said the codes pointed at the IMA battery being bad, which I already knew. I replaced the battery and everything was good for about 3 weeks. Now this morning on the highway I experienced the same problems. The check engine light is on again but I haven't had a chance to get the codes as it just happened this morning.

For more context, the highest I see the IMA battery get charged to is 5 bars. I also experience the jerking about 90% of the time when accelerating. The stalling only happens on rare occasions when I attempt to accelerate quickly. It's odd that all those problems would go away after replacing the battery and then everything returns just a few weeks later. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
