2007 Civic Map/Interior Lights

I have a 2007 Civic EX where the drivers side front map light isn't working when the door is open or the light being depressed. The passenger side is working properly. The bulb has been replaced and with a digital meter I discovered no power to the light contacts when the white button switch inside the light is toggled. The best I can guess is that the internal switch is defective. Easy swap if I could find a replacement switch. Problem is Honda doesn't sell one and wants to sell me the entire internal tray that holds the components for both light for $52.

Funny I find these internal switches being sold for other model Honda's but not the Honda. Is there a source for these small switches?

You could grab it for like $5 at a junkyard. Door switch was good?

yeah because the Passenger door light is functioning with the door in play. I would assume that both lights would fail if it was a door switch issue.

You can swap the front, L & R switches to test.

Checked the light contacts with the working light and the non working lights with a volt meter. Found the drivers side had no power no matter if I toggled the switch on and off by pushing the bottom. Same test on the right side show 12 volts and the 0 volts if the button is toggled. So I feel pretty good that it is the switch. I will pull the fixture down and unplug the specific switch and plug it back into the harness. I'll also verify the connector to the switch has power. Doing the swap as you suggested will prove that the plug is supplying power to the switch. But I'd rather not disturb the working switch and it's plug. Honda dealership parts guy said the failure of those button switches are a common issue. It's just a shame he said that the button is not stocked by Honda. Honda likes to sell the $52 complete replacement rather than deal with the switch itself. They also get another $100 in labor on top of that replacement. I've seen the switches for other model Honda's on Amazon and Ebay. They look the same but they are not verified whether they fit the Civic. Cost for those are around $5.

It's an EX 4 door. I was hoping short of a junk yard that someone knew of an outlet selling a switch that fits this car. Yeah a $54 tray with the entire light assembly will fix it but its a terrible waste of money and resources.

car-part.com is a good source for used parts. You can search in your area.
