Auto idle plus battery warning light
Auto idle plus battery warning light
Hi,
On Friday I got a warning light on my 2014 9th Gen Civic it has the auto idle sign and a battery. I looked it up in the manual and it said it might not be detecting the battery charge, disconnect the negative, reconnect and drive around. I found this odd advice and haven't yet done this. I set off driving to work (35 miles) and now in addition to that I got to a point where there was a warning beeping every second but before it had chance to show me anything it cleared, I think it was trying to say the boot was open (which it wasn't).
So it sounds like a new battery my fix this, but also perhaps it is the alternator. What does anyone think, should I head to halfords and get a new battery (It has never had one since new) or go to a garage as it may be something related to the battery not getting charged?
Thanks

battery is probably toast, however you should check if the alternator is charging, do you have a multimeter?

Re: Auto idle plus battery warning light
check voltage at the battery with the car off
and then check it again with the engine running
post your readings here

Ah thanks. I just did this 12.00V with the engine off and 14.00V running which from what I can gather means the alternator is doing its job. Is that right?

Hi Not sure of the fault codes as I haven;t tried that. I can just see the warning Stop start + battery is shown. Garage just told me it was at 54% so I'm getting a replacement battery shortly. Many thanks for your help. I'll post again if a new battery doesn't fix it.

Re: Auto idle plus battery warning light
the warning Stop start + battery is shown.
For the LIN network code (charge warning light), check if any of the tiny wires broke on the battery current sensor on the neg post,
I don't even want to guess at codes for pushbutton start system
