ABS module, stuffed, and super expensive
ABS module, stuffed, and super expensive
Honda Civic hatchback Jan 2014, 1.6 I-DTEC,
The brakes went soft, sent to our local normal garage., told master cylinder faulted.
replace part, within a week brake soft again.
sent back in told ABS module letting in air.
quote for part $4200 AUD! from Honda.
Sent to Honda Garage they confirm ABS module fault ($580 for investigation ).
they quote discounted part at $3600 + $1000 fitting.
Can get a second-hand unit from UK $200. But lots ( 5 off ) part numbers on ABS Module, and one number, of all these number is incorrect? is it important? I think unit is coded to ECU?
Looking at taking it off and sending to ABS module repairer $1000, ?? no Coding, years warranty? But as it the piston / cylinder / seals at fault may have to buy second-hand unit and make one good one out the two.
Sooner or later, you will be following me down this path, so heads up..

Re: ABS module, stuffed, and super expensive
I’d advise extreme caution going down the path of sourcing used by yourself in this scenario. I can’t say for certain with your Honda but with others, the computer will need reprogramming, but even with the same part number, it may not work since certain computers are built to fit different trims/configurations. Just something to consider.
Re: ABS module, stuffed, and super expensive
Yes, I had to search long and hard, for the same year, same model, same engine gearbox configuration.
I did ask for the Honda parts numbers at the Honda parts dept, but got a no.
Hopefully the ABS module repairer, as there are companies in Australia, that's all they do.,will have the skills required.
ps,
1993 BMW R1100RS, had it since about 1997.
