92 Civic EX, ABS?
92 Civic EX, ABS?
Hi all,
I recently purchased a 92 Honda Civic EX (d16z6) w/ 1.6L vtech and I have to say, it has a little character :P but I love the car to death!
Anyway to my question. The breaks are a bit squishy so I took it to Les Schwab to have them power bled hoping that there was just some air in the lines and that would solve the problem. (I would have done this myself but I couldn't loosen the bleeder valve and I figured for $50 it could be their problem). After having them bled, the breaks were still squishy and the mechanic recommended I replace my break master cylinder. He quoted me a bit over $200 for this service.
I figured I could save myself some money by doing it myself. I found several guides and I think it is well within my ability to do. Some of the guides (including that in the Haynes manual) specifically says not to do this if your car is equipped with ABS. My question is: is my car equipped with ABS / how do I tell if my car is equipped with ABS.
My dash has an ABS light but it never lights up. Is this just a generic instrument cluster? Would I even have this light if my car was not equipped with ABS?
Thanks for any help, let me know if I need to clarify anything.
edit: I also checked for fuses but one of the boxes is unlabeled. I also hit about 40mph and slammed on the breaks and the wheels locked up.
