Axle Nut Torque
Axle Nut Torque
I changed out my hub and bearings on both front knuckles and when putting the cv axle back into the hub I'm having a hell of a time. I read that you just push the spline in enough to where it lines up w/ the hub and then torque it down until it bottoms out and reaches the OEM torque spec. Only issue is I'm over 150 ft lbs of torque and I'm not even 1/3 of the way close to bottoming out. I've read about other cars taking 300-400 ft lbs of torque but I am worried I'd damage the CV axle and hub if I force it. suggestions?

Re: Axle Nut Torque
what year and trim? I've seen different specs for 7th vs 8th vs 9th gen, and different specs for Si vs non-si.
Re: Axle Nut Torque
The axle should easily slide into the hub and completely bottom out without the help of the axle nut. If you're using the nut to pull the axle into the hub, something is definitely wrong.
Does the number of splines on the axle match the number of splines in the hub?
