Rep Power: 0 cv axle removal pass side
i am trying to remove the passenger side axle on my 2009 Civic. I looked at a couple of videos but they all show a
long axle going directly into the transmission. My car has a short axle, a carrier bearing and then a torque tube going
into the transmission. Any hints on removal? The drivers side came out normally.
thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: cv axle removal pass side
The inboard cv joint comes off of the straight shaft.
It's held together with a snap ring, same style as the opposite axle has holding it in the transmission.
I usually use a large brass drift and hammer to drive them apart

Thanks, I will give that a try.
I got a large crowbar in there and it would not move. I will try a drift.
Funny all the videos show a long axle. (PS I said a torque tube, which it is not, as it rotates with the axle)

well did not have a drift large enough as the space is larger, but I was able to use it to tap the axle out.
Turns out that the pass side axle is female on the inboard side.
Thanks so much for your input.
