Compliance Bushing 2010
Compliance Bushing 2010
Took my civic in for a airbag recall and dealer says i have a drivers side compliance bushing (lower control arm bushing ) that is cracked and in need of repair. I had no audible clunkng sound, rough ride etc issues at the time. They said passengers side was good. The dealer cost was $509 plus tax. I came home pulled the front wheels off for inspection and did not see anything different between the two sides so i left things alone. I live in Alberta Canada and during our most recent cold snap ( -28 celsius to - 38 celsius ) the clunking started and has persisted even as things have warmed up. Now i know pricing is different between you friends in the U.S. and us in the great white north but this seems absolutely laughable when i can buy the part from RockAuto for $25 or the whole arm bushings and ball joint included for $58 landed. Dealer also wanted additional money for a wheel alignment that they said was necasary. Anyone out in Civic land have any opinion on the pricing/install,alignment or any info at all.
Thank you in advance

Re: Compliance Bushing 2010
Yep that's why I do my own work. They would be using OEM parts with a mark up so I wouldn't be surprised if $300 was parts especially if they were going to replace the assembly. Alignment might be needed but I would replace and drive it to check.
OEM unit is close to $200 for the whole arm. ANd you can buy the bushing separate so they took the easy more money route.

Re: Compliance Bushing 2010
First thing that came to mind while listening to the service advisor was run ,run far away from the dealer lol. Ya i googled the repair and have decide to do this repair myself. Just was looking for some more information and if there may be something i wasn't told or missed myself.
Thanks for your help today.
