Grease when changing tire?

I got a flat on my front driver's side tire of my and when I changed it I found grease on the outside and wasn't sure why. My last car ended up having the cv's on both front tires bust open and I didn't know it, so I'm kind of freaked out from that and wanting to make sure this is normal.

This is the first time I've had a flat since I've had my civic so it my first time seeing it and I'm not entirely sure what is expected.

I'll upload a picture of what I found out there after I put the spare on

Thanks for any help.

Re: Grease when changing tire?

Is it a metallic color (darkish gray)? Might be anti-seize from the axle nut.

I'm thinking this is probably it because it definitely fits that description. And it was on the nut there at the end. Suppose I'm mostly paranoid about things going wrong with the car because I've had so many car issues in the past. Thanks for the tip!
