2010 LXS automatic, Left inner axle grease recommendation.

Honda sometimes use different grease for outer and inner parts of the axle. I want to regrease the drivers side INNER (tripod). My local honda sells a reboot kit ( 4407-sne-a11) that includes the grease, BUT the grease supposedly is not sold separately and that is all I need.
Can someone recommend an alternative axle grease to use.
Regards

Re: 2010 LXS automatic, Left inner axle grease recommendation.

I decided to reboot the drivers side axle inner boot and at the same time renew the axle seal. It was not a hard job and the most difficult thing for me was removing the flat circular ring on the end of the shaft so as to remove the tripod bearing assembly. Reinstalling that the ring was even harder but I solved it by using a dremel tool to make both tips of the ring more barb like so the ring tool could get a better bite. That worked. The grease that came with the kit was a GKN automotive grease #10019942. It resembled the original grease and the quantity was 105 grams , about 3.7 ozs and it was enough, even though I thought it was not. The grease package also had a P/N and it was 10073169. It was close to $60 for the kit which included both metal bands , a 32mm axle nut , the boot and two rings . I could have installed a new after market axle for $40 bucks more but my experience with aftermarket axles is not favorable. The original boot had become hardened especially at the larger end.

Re: 2010 LXS automatic, Left inner axle grease recommendation.

I made a mistake , I think , installing the axle as it pertains to the seal. I applied a thin film of vaseline ( petroleum jelly) on the shoulder of the shaft that the seal rides on. I have since learnt that petroleum jelly eats away some seals. If that is true it can be expected that premature leakage of transmission fluid can occur. I will address that when it happens , how long will that be? IDK. It won't be difficult as all that is needed is to remove the three ball joint bolts/nuts and the steeing tie rod. No biggie. I used the vaseline to keep the C clip of the axle shaft centered with the opening at the 12 o'clock position. For the seal I suppose dielectric grease would have been better. Live and learn
