CV Axle options
CV Axle options
I have a 2008 Honda Civic LX, automatic transmission 4 door sedan with 144,000 miles. My cv axle outer boots keep tearing. I need to replace my passenger side cv axle. Where do you guys purchase your Honda brand cv axles? Anyone know the part number for what I need? I think it's 44305-SNE-A01? I could get a Cardone brand on Amazon for $72 and they also have an ECCPP brand with a dynamic dampener for a little cheaper. I'm avoiding GSP. Any recommended after market brands? Any I should avoid? Should I try to get a Honda cv axle at the junk yard? I don't understand why the rubber would keep tearing on these. I guess the Honda ones have thicker rubber? How much should I expect to pay for a Honda cv axle? Thanks in advance
Re: CV Axle options
I used a Cardone in a CRV a while back. It lasted a couple thousand miles before I could feel vibrating again. Around 7k miles the boot ripped. Got a replacement under their lifetime warranty, basically the same exact experience. Got a refund the second time and switch to FVP brand. Haven't had any issues over the ~15k miles since. FVP also has a lifetime warranty.
All of my axles were from Rockauto.

Re: CV Axle options
Is this the correct part number for front right/passenger of my 2008 LX automatic sedan: 44305-SNE-A01 ? Thanks
There is another part number: 44305-SNA-000 for the passenger side that is over $600!

Re: CV Axle options
It looks like FVP might be reboxed Trakmotive cv axles. They seem to be decent? https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/th...y-good.355773/
I found a Honda brand CV axle for $180 I think (it doesn't show me what the tax is), which seems like a decent price. It just won't arrive until next week. My dealership wants close to $300. I do a lot of city driving with my job. Lots of short trips, which isn't good for any car. I just really don't want to buy a more expensive cv axle and then have a torn boot again in a year.
