Clutch noise
Clutch noise
I own a 2007 civic si, noticed a weird, almost grinding/whining noise when I push the clutch in, gears seem to "pop" out at higher rpms as I push the clutch in, any ideas or solutions are greatly appreciated.
Re: Clutch noise
Whining/grinding noise with the clutch pedal to the floor is likely the throw out bearing. That wouldn't really explain it popping out of gear while driving. Maybe check transmission fluid level.
Clutch replacement
I have a 2007 civic si fg2, noticed a noise coming from the clutch when I engage it, guessing its the throw out bearing or pilot bearing, thinking of just replacing everything and buying a complete clutch kit. Any suggestions on a good kit to buy? And also, is it safe for me to drive the car before making the repair? Thank you in advance.
Re: Clutch replacement
Thanks man, would it be worth it to go with a competion clutch or like a higher quality clutch? I do plan on doing some upgrades in the future, the car is bone stock at the moment, probably won't be a couple weeks before I can get it into a shop.

Re: Clutch replacement
10 yrs? Thats a long time man, mine has been getting considerably worse, notice its getting a little harder to shift, maybe our cars have completely different issues, thanks for the advice though.

Re: Clutch replacement
since yours is getting worse...
and just get something in the middle of price range, should be fine, or Exedy
Re: Clutch replacement
Unless you plan on running considerably more power, stock replacement is fine.
Re: Clutch replacement
If I'm not mistaken, book time is 8 hours, which would put that shop at $110 per hour, which is high but not unreasonable. You can probably find one with a lower hourly rate.
Re: Clutch replacement
thank you, I got a different estimate from another shop that quoted me 1550 with parts, clutch kit price they provide is 460 dollars
Noisy clutch
Can a bad clutch master cylinder prevent the clutch from engaging? I've had a noisy clutch for a while, whiney when the clutch pedal is pushed in, thought it was the throw bearing but never did take it to a mechanic to get proper diagnosis. Now the car doesn't want to go into gear and clutch pedal has almost no resistance when stepping on it.
