Clutch noise

I own a 2007 civic si, noticed a weird, almost grinding/whining noise when I push the clutch in, gears seem to "pop" out at higher rpms as I push the clutch in, any ideas or solutions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Clutch noise

1 - take to a shop
2 - it's likely the throwout bearing, take to a shop

Re: Clutch noise

Whining/grinding noise with the clutch pedal to the floor is likely the throw out bearing. That wouldn't really explain it popping out of gear while driving. Maybe check transmission fluid level.

Clutch replacement

I have a 2007 civic si fg2, noticed a noise coming from the clutch when I engage it, guessing its the throw out bearing or pilot bearing, thinking of just replacing everything and buying a complete clutch kit. Any suggestions on a good kit to buy? And also, is it safe for me to drive the car before making the repair? Thank you in advance.

Re: Clutch replacement

Exedy OEM replacement.

You’re probably okay to keep driving it until you replace it, assuming you don’t leave it for too long.

Re: Clutch replacement

Thanks man, would it be worth it to go with a competion clutch or like a higher quality clutch? I do plan on doing some upgrades in the future, the car is bone stock at the moment, probably won't be a couple weeks before I can get it into a shop.

Unless you plan on running considerably more power, stock replacement is fine.

Re: Clutch replacement

If I'm not mistaken, book time is 8 hours, which would put that shop at $110 per hour, which is high but not unreasonable. You can probably find one with a lower hourly rate.

yeah, still expensive though, I'm going to take the car to get diagnosed first,, just to make sure that that's what it is

Noisy clutch

Can a bad clutch master cylinder prevent the clutch from engaging? I've had a noisy clutch for a while, whiney when the clutch pedal is pushed in, thought it was the throw bearing but never did take it to a mechanic to get proper diagnosis. Now the car doesn't want to go into gear and clutch pedal has almost no resistance when stepping on it.
