Honda Civic 2010 Transmission Concerns
Honda Civic 2010 Transmission Concerns
Hello, we recently acquired a pre-owned Honda Civic 2010 5-speed automatic for my wife. It drives great during our road test.
However, we noticed that in the morning when the engine is cold :
a) As soon as we put the gear from Park to Reverse, there will be a whirring/whining sound for about 1-2 seconds
b) After that whirring/whining sound, it will be followed by a loud 'Thud' and jerk before it goes to reverse
c) Changing the gear from Reverse to Drive, there will also be a 'Thud' but not as loud or jerky
d) If we continue to drive, there will be jerks/thud when shifting gears (this will disappear when we turn the engine off then back on).
e) There were rare occasions that cart wont move either in Reverse or Drive, but will be OK as soon as we turn the engine off then back on.
As suggested to us, we warm up the car for around 5 mins before using it the morning. We still experience and hear the 'thud' but much lesser. Car will drive great afterwards, just some hesitation from shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear.
We learned that the ATF filter have been replaced early last year and also had the AT Fluid replaced sometime back in May 2019. There was also a comment from the Honda Service record that there is a stuck pressure solenoid error code last year (the error code P0746 was reset afterwards).
Will really appreciate some thoughts and suggestions on the above, before we proceed on the repair we need to do.
Thanks in advance !
