Good day. My daughter's 2006 Civic DX just came out of the body shop for some paint work. Drove it home and put it in the shop to investigate some brake squealing noises. Long story short, she took it for a drive and said the shifter feels funny. It wont return to center in neutral from left side and kinda feels rough when moving back and forth. This is new as it was smooth as silk earlier. I am not a Honda guy, as my car is a CTS V manual shift. Any input or help would be appreciated.

inquiry body shop if they did something.

check cables to trans
need open shifter to see the innards

Thanks. Any suggestions on how to open that shifter. I had the bezel up and was looking around a bit, but didn't want to go too deep. She would kill me if it fell apart on me and I couldn't get it back together right away. Feels like a bearing or bushing or something like that has failed.

I have been searching the internet all morning and I cant find instructions on how to remove shifter or take it apart for repair or maintenance. Surely you guys can point me in the right direction......

i use repair manuals such as haynes (found on parts shop or online)
