06 Civic Won't Stay Running and Only Starts Under Odd Condition
A friend of mine was about to junk this civic just because it stopped turning on a few months ago. I decided to take it off his hands in the hope I could keep another car on the road, I know some people who could use a cheap car.
Scenario 1:
- I turn the key to the acc position, lights come on, dash lights up, radiator fan starts blowing, fuel pump primes, etc. I give it a second.
- I then attempt to turn the vehicle on. It turns over and over and over but won't start.
Scenario 2:
- From the completely off key position I just immediately turn the key through the acc position and immediatly attempt to turn it on
- the engine catches and fires up for a second and then dies even if I'm revving it.
What I've tried:
- replaced crank position sensor
- replaced fuel pump
- unplugged the air intake sensors idividually to check for changed behaviour, there was none
I'm worried maybe it's a timing thing but this behaviour is odd to me. I'm not experienced with Hondas.
