Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

Hi, I want to do a compression test on a 2007 hybrid engine. I'm wondering what fuses to remove to disable fuel and spark and just wondering if there's anything extra or different that I need to do from a standard compression test since I'm dealing with 8 plugs as opposed to 4? Thanks in advance

Find the injector fuse. Going to have pull 7 plugs, leaving one in the cylinder being tested. Then move the plug and the tester to the next cylinder. You'll want the car hooked to a charger for all the cranking

wait. leave the plug in the cylinder being tested? aren't you supposed to pull all plugs and connect the pressure gauge in the cylinder being tested?

Also, I couldn't find the hybrid fuse box, but the standard 2007 sedan has 2 FI fuses, #19 and #11 in the engine bay. 19 is the FI main fuse, and 11 is the FI sub fuse. Basically, look for anything in the fuse box labelled "FI"

2 plugs per cylinder, you'll have a big hole if you dont leave one plug per cylinder

re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

Many thanks for all the responses. The location given in an earlier post for the 2 fuel injector fuses, 11 and 19 don't seem to match my box. Also, I found fuse box diagrams online that are supposed to be 2007 hybrid fuse boxes but they don't match what I have either. I'm attaching a pic of my under bonnet fuse box layout, if anyone could suggest likely FI fuses from that I'd really appreciate it 👍

oh man, it says to look at the manual for fuse description. I'll see if I can find a hybrid manual

re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

Still looking for a fuse box diagram for this car and can't proceed with compression test until I can figure out what fuses control fuel injection. I have a 2007 1.4 hatchback hybrid civic, is there anybody who might have information on the fuses for this car or if not a process of elimination that might identify the relevant fuses? Many thanks

works the same as removing the connectors, just go and do it...

re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

It's not that straight forward because I'm not even sure where it is, I think mine is in the front but rather than taking things apart and inadvertently destroying my car i looked for the fuel pump fuse which I pulled and it wouldn't start after that so I think this should work. Many thanks for help. If anyone thinks I might blow myself up taking this tack they might let me know 😋

re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

In case anyone's interested and in the interest of providing info for others who might end up in this situation, I removed the fuel pump fuse and was able to do the compression test without any issues so it seems there's no need to find or pull fuel injector fuses nor is it necessary to disconnect the fuel pump. The issue I originally had was trying to find the FI fuses as I couldn't find an accurate 8th gen hybrid engine fuse box online. The only fuse box diagram that I could find when I looked for a 1.4 2007 hybrid civic didn't match what I have in my engine compartment but the diagram for the fuses inside the car did, at least the 15A fuse for the fuel pump is where the diagram says it is, (fuse no. 2). I've only had this car for 2 years and it's been relatively trouble free up to now so I haven't really had to get to know the ins and outs of it but one thing I do know is that I'll never buy another civic and when it comes to 8 plug engines, forget about it. I had a couple of hrvs before this one and got 5 good years out of each even though I bought them both cheap but they went the same way as this one which was to suddenly start burning excessive oil to the point of being incapable of passing an emissions test. Love those original hrvs though. Happy Christmas 😊

Re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

Compression was pretty consistent, between 175 and 190 across the 4 cylinders. I think the oil rings might be gummed up, I did a piston soak recently and there was an improvement with oil consumption/smoke from exhaust but I think it's still too high to pass a car test here in ireland so I'll do another soak and see what happens 👍

Re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

ok. not sure on the newer gen, but the 7th gen the oil rings get stuck with carbon deposits and don't hold oil enough even with good compression

Re: Remove fuses to do compression test? [solved]

Yeah, there are some really good vids on YouTube dealing with clogged oil rings , this guy managed to fix an Audi with the same problems I'm having
I was told by a mechanic that my engine would need a rebuild if I wanted to sort out my oil burning issues but I'm not so sure, I think a piston soak is worth a try before writing off an engine
