I just took an engine compression test on my D17A1/2001 Civic LX. I have 39,000 brutal miles on it and 42,000 totale. And yes I did break it in for a good 3 thousand before it started to see redlines for the next 39,000 thousand. I started to use Mobile1 non synthetic 5w/30. I changed the oil evey 3 thousand if not earlier. Cylinder 1 compression is -135- PSI. Cylinder 2 compression is -135- PSI. Cylinder 3 compression is -130- PSI. Cylinder 4 compression is -130- PSI.
1 2 3 4
135 PSI..135 PSI..130 PSI..130 PSI..
What does a brand new D17A1 have for a compression.

Rep Power: 0 I did mine as well a couple months ago on a d17a1, and got 135 - 132 across. It's supposed to be 135, so your readings are perfect. Any variation of 28psi needs to be serviced.

Remove the spark plugs, screw the compression gauge line into the spark plug socket, and crank the engine for about 4 revolutions, take the highest reading. Move onto the next cylinder. Takes less than 10 minutes. And it would cost less to get a compression gauge than to go somewhere and get it done probably.
