Exclamation Pressure on cooling system

Hi all. I am new to this forum and hope I can find some help here. I did some digging and did not find any issue quite like mine so I figured I will start a new thread. A couple of weeks ago my 2014 Civic LX overheated due to a faulty fan relay causing the fans not to work. I was not the one driving but I was told it overheated for less than a minute (it showed the warning on the display). Luckily the car started to overheated close to a mechanic's shop. The mechanic was able to quickly change the relay and topped of the coolant that was lost. A few days go by and I started to notice a slight smell of coooant after driving the car. No visible leaks. As a precaution I started to check the coolant level every couple days, without noticing any loss of coolant. Today, after the car has been stopped for 2 full days, I went to check coolant level as usual when I noticed the radiator cap had way more pressure than usual. When I removed the cap, coolant shoot out covering myself in it, which freaked me out as the car was off and it has not been turned on in the last couple of days. After a quick google search the pressure build up seems to indicate a faulty head gasket or even a warped cylinder head, but what got me confused is that I don't have any of the other symptons such as overheating, coolant loss, etc. The oils seems normal (is not milky or watery as it gets with hg issues) and the coolant color/consistency seems correct. Could it really be that the hg is starting to fail or that the head is warped? Again, the car has not overheated since the faulty and it doesn't seem to be losing coolant other than the slight smell afterdriving. Any help would be appreciated and sorry for the long post, I just tried to be as thorough as possible.

Re: Pressure on cooling system

Unless you're in slow moving traffic, the fans basically never run. I would be very surprised if that actually caused overheating in the first place.

Anyways, I would replace the radiator cap first.
