Question p0118 temp sensor
Question p0118 temp sensor
I have a 2007 Civic lx Coupe, I replaced my Climate control panel because the compressor was staying on all the time and so were the fans. I replaced the condenser fan because it was weak and only ran in low. Now, I got a p0118 code for Temperature sensor, I cleared the code and it hasn’t come back on after idling the car for an hour and confirming the fan still comes on. The fan comes on for about 15 seconds when the temperature gauge shows it’s about half way.. is this normal? Could I still have a faulty sensor? If so, which of the two temp sensors control the fan or tell it when to come on?
Re: Question p0118 temp sensor
Half might be right but on my 2002 it sits at 1/4 to 1/3 of the temperature gauge.
its engine temperature so you'll see the sensor somewhere pluged into the coolant, usually around the thermostat region.

Re: Question p0118 temp sensor
I'm pretty sure 1/2 on gauge is correct. My '05 Civic reads one hash mark below half when fully warmed up, and the fan will kick on slightly above 1/2 or even AT 1/2 sometimes.
Try hooking up a scan tool with live data. It will show the engine temp. Make note of what the temp is at when the fan comes on. I believe it will turn on between 210 and 220 degrees F. [Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that]
