Flashing check engine light
Flashing check engine light
2011 civic lx. 208000 miles
Replaced the plugs about a year ago with the proper plugs. Asked here
coils are original
was Driving home from work and the car shudders and CEL was flashing. I pulled over and **** car off
waited about 5 minutes. Googling this.
started car again and light cel of off. Car is driving fine. Went to read any codes and there were none. I thought this was weird.
any thoughts?

Re: Flashing check engine light
Took it to a mechanic I trust. He said if it went off and no code. It could be a glitch.
if it comes back try to get a code. Reader is in my car now.
-time chain jumping he said it wouldn’t clear.
-possible bad coil. Try to get a code to determine which coil. Then swap two to see if it follows a coil
keep driving it. If it comes back we can go from there

get a dongle to transmit OBDII from amazon
get torque pro for your smartphone.

specifically, catalyst damaging misfire condition.
if it's running fine now,you may not necessarily have the CEL illuminated, but misfire codes should be stored. Unless you actually got it scanned and zero codes -- stored or otherwise -- don't exist, then that's just weird.

FOXWELL NT301 OBD2 Scanner Professional Mechanic OBDII Diagnostic Code Reader Tool for Check Engine Light
This is my code reader. It should do live data. I Think.

too many of them.
WIFI models did mess up my phone reception, so i would say bluetooth model is better.
choose something in the mid-range to low on price range (too cheap is dangerous, meant as likely to live longer, too expensive is likely rip-off)
