New head gasket

The installation instructions in Haynes state "On 1.8L engines, always install a new coolant separator (the hollow dowel pin at the transaxle end of the engine) into the block before installing a new head gasket.
I see a 6' black pvc type separator next to the sleeve towards the belt side, but nothing like a hollow dowel pin on the transaxle side. Anyone know anything about this.

Re: New head gasket

I don't know why it says the trans-axle end of the engine because it is clearly on the timing side. You didn't specify a year but it appears '06-'15 all use the same separator.
