Rep Power: 0 2006 Civic 1.8L Battery Replaced - No Start
Hello,
So, I swapped out my battery the other day with a new one and now the car won't start. No power at all inside, I turn the key on and no power. Dash-nothing. But, there is a silver pump looking thing with metal lines (on passenger side) that stays on until I disconnect the battery and the parking lights are on as well until I disconnect the battery.. Other than that, no power anywhere else. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
John

Thanks for replying. I looked into the anti-theft possibility. The symptoms are different it seems. The videos show vehicles with power to the dash, etc. My car has no power to the inside, no dash lights, no door light, no chimes, nothing. when I hook the batery up the parking lights turn on and a pump-type part with metal tubes connected to it seems to be pumping air or something because I can hear a motor inside whirring. I am still trying to find the answer but so far nothing.

test your battery voltage, assuming its fine (12V+)....clean your battery terminals and connectors with water and baking soda

I'm going to sound mean, but I don't mean to, but have you checked to make sure you don't have the battery hooked up backward? The cable that has the connection to the body ground is the negative. The cables will reach if you put the battery in backward, but just barely (don't ask me how I know this). Reversed polarity can mess with the relay positions and stop things from working correctly and cause all sorts of strange indications. If so, hopefully you haven't fried anything expensive.

Battery should be pretty straightforward.
Make sure the battery given to you has he same group number on it as OEM (ie: 58ps or 58rps. Those are just examples, I don't know your group number of hand)
-try jumping the car, to verify that the battery is in good condition (even though it is new, they can drain out if they sit in a warehouse without being charged)
-make sure all cables are tight
-check all related fuses
