Runs in the Clear Coat...
Anyone know how I buff out runs in the clear coat?
Can I do it by hand or do I need a buffing machine? How do I do it? What do I need?
Help a brother out!

I got my Xenon Front painted from some shop a while back and their is a run in the clear coat. The guy that painted it told me to come back to his shop once I mount the bumper (the bumper was to flimsy to do on it's own) and he'll buff it out. I'd take it back to the guy but the thing is, I would rather do it myself if it's possible that way I won't be car-less for several hours.
BTW... my car is Satin Silver.

Based on your reply, my advice would be to take it to the shop and wait on it. You would have to remove clearcoat in order to get the run out. The shop will have a device to measure the thickness of the clearcoat so they'll know how much to remove. They will also use a rotary and a very strong compound. There is no way to do this by hand. The closest you would be able to come would be to use a porter cable 7424 and meguiar's #83 dual action cleaner polish. Even with this method I don't think you could remove anywhere near enough clearcoat to fix a run. What if you tried it and messed up your bumper? You would be assed out! If they do it they are responsible. I hope this helps.
