There are plenty of other great products on the market. There are products made by Eagle 1, Meguires, Mothers, and also a product called VinylX.

Sometimes its not such a good idea for the dash board to be so shiny. You will get massive amounts of glare off the sun and that isnt a good idea. I dont put that much on when I am doing the dash, and I also let it sit after I wipe it in and then wipe it off with another towel...to get the excess dressing.

No need to wash the surface down. I usually do clean my dash before applying dressing though. You want to get rid of the dust and dirt that has accumulated on there. I usually take a towel and some aerosol glass cleaner and wipe down the dash. As for dressing I recommend VINYL-X. I believe it is made by LEXOL. It is in a light blue spray bottle.
Meguiers wipes are the best, they condition without leaving an oily residue, not too shiny, and the wipes dont leave any of that lint crap all over your dash. Plus I love the grape smell, subtle, not like an over powering air freshener. Good stuff, but the price is a little stiff, but for me worth it, only the best.
