Correct Procedure for Bumper Scratch/Chip?

What is the best way to repair bumper scratches or chips, so that it
is near-perfect?

I accidentally chipped some paint off my rear bumper while loading
some items into my trunk.

Am I missing out anything from the following procedure? How does
this sound? When would I clearcoat?

- Wash car
- Strip wax
- Sandpaper immediate area lightly
- Fill scratch with paint in several layers
- Allow dry
- Sandpaper new paint so it is level with surrounding
- Polish & Wax

(clearcoat?)

I also assume that Acura/Honda's touch-up paint would be the best
match?

Go to the dealer, get a bottle of touch up paint and apply several (and I mean several) thin coats of touch up paint....I backed into my mom's car and I had a nice scratch with a lil pinch in the plastic...after I filled it in a bit, then smoothed it out with some 1200 grit sandpaper, can't even see it! What your plan is sounds pretty good to me...

Yikes, I have a little tiny scratch in my back bumper too but i'm scared to try and fix it. Anbody know how much it would cost to have somebody at a shop try to fix it for me.? It's just a little tiny scratch where a girl knicked it when she was tryin' to parallel park behind me.

I think for something little, it's best to try to fix it yourself. It would be costly to re-paint the whole bumper.
